Similarities in two of my favorite movies

I have a long list of favorite movies. I love the classics from way back when, as well as, the up to date soon to be classics of today. I realized that  movies that make my "favorites" list  have to have three things: humor, romance, and adventure. Too much drama is boring. Too much blood and guts is gross. Too much kissy, kissy is unwatchable. It always leads to other stuff.  I'm drawn to 'period' pieces where the costumes are over the top and most of the curse words are left out. It's hard to find a good movie these days that isn't filled with bad language. Even the funny movies seem to think they have to use fowl language, or it's just not funny. Wrong! It's the way a line is delivered that makes it funny to me; not always the words.
Anyway, if you've checked my profile, you pretty much know my all time favorites, but I wanted to highlight two that I find the most similar - " The Phantom of the Opera" and " The Twilight Saga."

Both movies involve a "love triangle"; two men in love with the same girl. It's  a struggle to see who will win her in the end.

The girl is drawn to a dark, mysterious man whom her mind tells her is dangerous, but her heart is smitten.

She finds comfort in an old childhood friend and
is torn between the world she knows and the world that could be.

The Phantom and Edward would do anything to protect their love. And in the end the good guy, in my opinion, gets the girl. Sweet!!

Plus the soundtracks from both movies are awesome!
