Certain loved ones in my family describe me as stubborn and/or bull headed. I like to think of the trait as "determination."
It simply means that if I decide something is better one way; then, I will bust a gut to do it that way. Pretty much standing with my feet planted and unmovable.
That brings me to this picture. I planted 'Impatiens' three years ago on the north side of our house. The sun is very hot on that side and Impatiens don't do very well without shade. Well, the other morning, I noticed this little guy growing as pretty as you please. Its seed has survived over two years up against the foundation. It's still out there, even after the cold snaps we've had lately. That's what I call - determination. It had a will to grow and become a pretty flower, even though the odds were stacked against it. I bet it'll be back next year, too. Determination like that is hard to overcome.
your impatients come back every year? What about Salvia, have you ever had any luck with it returning> Anyway that's amazing! I have never had an impatient come last more than one year.
ReplyDeleteuh oh...once gain I've had to post as Nathan. This blog doesn't work on my browser and it also doesn't give me the same choices to post as Lily's (name/url)

Occasionally, an Impatien will come back, but it's very rare in our climate. This is the one and only plant that happened to come back. It was very determined :)
ReplyDeleteI think you are determined and not at all stubborn. You are a rock star!
ReplyDeleteVery determined little thing! I understand what you are saying and it painted a clear picture for me. It took two years for that flower to bloom and still it did it. Most of them give up and this one didn't. So I would say this impatient and you are quite a like!
ReplyDeleteLove you!!
